The Senaru Crater Rim is known as Pelawangan in Indonesia or Lombok. In the local Sasak language, Pelawangan means an open gate or an entrance or “open gate.” Thus, this area serves as the main gateway to Rinjani from the Senaru side. At 2,641 meters above sea level, Senaru Crater Rim sits on the slopes above Lake Segara Anak, west of Mount Rinjani and Mount Setampol. The view froJm here is incredible, offering a full look at the lake with Mount Rinjani in the background. It’s so beautiful that it feels like you’re in a fairy tale world.
Reaching the Crater Rim via the Senaru Trekking Route typically takes 5 to 6 hours of hiking from the Jebak Gawah (trekking gate) or the check-in office. The recommended itinerary for visiting and camping here is a 2-day, 1-night program. While some hikers attempt a one-day trip, this actually violates the official regulations for two main reasons:
- Check-in Hours: Official check-in only opens at 8:00 AM, whereas one-day trips usually require starting at 1:00 AM.
- Ticket Requirements: Climbing tickets min book 2 days (duration :2-4 days)
